Many if not all parents use some form of childcare, which is a great thing both for your kids and yourself. Being the only childcare provider 24/7/365 is not good for your mental or emotional health or that of your child. At the same time, having a good experience with a childcare provider takes work – you have to find the right person, you have to communicate well with them, you have to follow up with both the provider and your child. However, if you do make that investment, you can eventually create a situation where your child benefits from learning and interacting with a different adult, and you have the peace of mind of knowing your child is in great hands.
EHParenting wants to help you achieve that goal, so we are started another new series to complement our posts in the “Grandparents, Grandchildren” line which have been very well received. “Notes from Your Nanny” are posts written by our newest EHParenting team member, Dena, who is a long-time professional nanny. Dena will give you insights into all the things that are on your nanny’s mind that she might not be able to say to you, and gently remind you of all the things you wish you had remembered to say to your nanny! If you have any specific questions for Dena, be sure to drop EHParenting a note and we’ll get back to you asap.
